1. Why Start a Blog?

This is the first question that you need to ask yourself all alone before starting a blog. What I believe personally is that there could be two reasons you are creating a blog. First that you like to do blogging and want your content to be read by a lot of people. Second that you want to earn money through your blog.

If you are creating a blog just to earn money then never come to blogging my friend because earning through a blog is not that easy. Yes, you can earn from 100$ to 10000$ a month through your blog but not overnight.

So if you start a blog then forget about earning for at least two years. Give more importance to your readership and not revenue. In this way, you will only think about giving quality content to your blog readers.

If you love blogging and helping people out through your knowledge then you are more than welcome because passion is what that is going to take your blog to the heights of success. This is a first thing that you need to consider before starting a blog. Think thousand times before coming up with the decision.

2. Blog Niche

Once you have taken the first decision of your blogging career then think about your blogging niche. Blogging niche is a blog topic that you are going to write about on your blog. Yes, passion is something that you need to start a blog on but first understand that what drives traffic and what not.

Try to choose trending topics. Topics that are worth reading for and topics that your audience want to read. I have seen a lot of bloggers who started their blogs but end up abandoning their careers because they had no visitors at all.

So be smart in choosing your blog niche. Here are some topics that you can start with:

• Health
• Technology
• Fashion
• Social Media

3. Hosting

Hosting is a place for your blog or a website where its files are going to be stored. You can’t make your website go live without a proper hosting plan. You can buy your preferred hosting plans on Hostgator.

• Free Blog Hosting

Self Hosting is a hosting plan that resides on your own server. You have to pay either third parties for buying a hosting plan for your website. Sources that provide hosting services are Hostgator, GoDaddy and NameCheap.

Free Hosting is a free hosting plan provided. Two biggest blogging platforms that provide free hosting services are Blogger and WordPress. They also provide free .blogspot and .wordpress domains for your free blogs but you can change them to your custom domain later on.

Blogger Vs WordPress:

Blogger is a free blogging platform offered by Google that you can use to make your free blog. Hosting would be free for your blog. In Blogger you can customize your template very easily. You can find millions of tutorials online for Blogger.

WordPress has two platforms basically: one is WordPress.com and other is WordPress.org. WordPress .com is just like Blogger and WordPress.org is a software that you can use to create a website. For that, you need to have a domain name and hosting plan.

4. Domain Name

In the fourth step, you need to consider choosing a unique domain name for your blog. I don’t know why people buy expensive domains when they have Godaddy that provides cheapest domain names for your blog.

Your domain name should be relevant to your blogging niche for example if your blog is about blogging tricks then you can have a domain name like bloggingtips.com. If you have a targeted keyword in your domain then your blog is really going work great in search engines. Plus it will also help the audience to understand what your blog is about. Always choose a top-level domain for your blog and keep it simple and short.

One important step you need to consider is making sure that domain name that you are choosing has not been penalized by Google before because it could be a problem for you later on.

5. Theme or Template

The last but not the least thing that you need to consider before start posting articles on your blog is having an amazing theme or template for your blog. The theme of your blog is something that people fall for.

The attractive theme will help your readers easily go and navigate through your blog. If you start your blog on Blogger then you don’t get professional templates for your blog so you need to buy templates or make your own.
