Earlier this evening I was chatting with Michelle my lovely girlfriend about some statistics we had seen. The particular statistics live in the HostGator affiliate panel where you are able to see how many people make a blog (or at least signup to the necessary web-hosting) each day of the month. We love seeing people make new blogs and especially when they go through our tutorials because it shows us people are really paying attention! 🙂 What was most interesting is these stats revealed that one particular day was more popular each week than others to create a blog: Saturday.
It’s an odd question really. Isn’t every day an equally good day to make a blog? Probably not. Not when the process involves learning a new technology and having the time to do so.
Personally I enjoyed spending Saturdays outdoors, at a farmer’s market, hiking or driving even. But I thought about it it makes sense. Here are the reasons why I think Saturday is the most popular day to make a blog, blog and work on blogs. Let me know if you agree or disagree!
No work the following day (and you can stay up late)
You can get up early and settle into work entirely at your own pace. Brew the coffee, take the dog for a walk while you let ideas develop, or jump right in. Saturday is your day, and if it takes longer to build a blog than you thought, it’s never a problem staying up into the wee hours of the AM. It’s actually quite exciting to stay up late making a blog!
It’s a day for hobbies
While most of the week is devoted to our jobs that pay the bills, perhaps with the occasional soccer or tennis match, Saturday is wide open for you hobbies. These days you can make blogging your #1 hobby and/or take your
Friday is payday
So if you need a little boost to help pay for the cost of a domain name and hosting (about $5/month these days) then you are all set!
It’s a popular day on YouTube
YouTube is where much of the learning about how to blog takes place these days. Being that Saturday is a big day for YouTube viewership, more people are going to find how to make a blog tutorials (that one is ours!) and have the necessary time to watch all the way through as well.
It could be the only free time we really get
At the end of the day we often only get a couple hours of free. But hopefully Saturday contains enough of it, and hopefully the family doesn’t show up with activities for you, that you can sit down and really think about blogging. It’s at those quiet moments when you’re not being gregarious that the best moments of clarity take place and you figure out what you need to do on your blog to succeed.
Holidays, snowdays, days off from work etc
