Hello, India Today…

Dear Readers,

Sometimes, us bloggers want to escape the limelight. Sit back, and remember what it was like on Day 1 of blogging: just me, the rumble of a train, and WordPress for Dummies.

But those days are over for me; it’s nearly impossible to hide anymore.

Today for instance, something curious happened. I woke up to an email from my auntie across the globe saying she spotted me in India Today, one of the “big 4” English magazines in India.

India Today - 15 jul 2013 issue

(I think they’re posting the whole thing online soon, but here’s a scan of the July 15th, 2013 issue. I’m right below a disgruntled Alec Baldwin.)

Either way, that fact that millions of magazines with my name and website featured in the tech section are being circulated around a country with 1.2 billion people is a-okay with me. A good example of how blogging takes places even when you’re not blogging.

So, the results?

Firstly, this whole event taught me a couple new things:
“Circulation” is the number of copies a particular magazine distributes, on average, for each issue. India Today’s circulation is the second largest in India at 1,100,000. Whoa. Read more global magazine stats on Wikipedia.

Also, 1 Rupee = 1.7 US Cents. I learned this while trying to convert my Paypal account to Rupees in order to buy a copy of this magazine over the internet. So far, unsuccessful. Anyone got a copy to share?

What this means for me:
This feature is currently meaning dozens of emails from new readers on planning, building, and growing blogs. I’m meeting some really cool up and coming bloggers in India, but don’t worry Mr. Kulwant, you’ll always be my favorite. And as the article suggests, I guess I’m now a “blogging artist” 🙂

What this means for you:
Well, if you’re a new reader coming in from India then this means you just found the Blogging Answers Community. Hey, Namaste, Vanakkam. I really hope you like what you see. Post your first comment today, and make sure to read the welcome message. To my current readers and club members, watch out. The Indians are taking over, as my Dad always tells me 🙂

And if you’re new here…

You oughta know that next week might be even bigger than this one. I’m releasing…

  1. How to Write a Blogpost That Ranks in Google’s Top 10 (a blogpost on Monday)
  2. Thanks Google: An Easy Guide to Dominating Organic Search (that’s my new eBook)

I’m going to give 25 copies of that eBook away for free to anyone in my email club who offers a Tweet, Facebook Share, or Google+ mention of the eBook. After that it’s cold hard cash, but not more than the cost of a coffee.

If you don’t have a blog yet, I wrote up a comprehensive guide that might help you out. It’s already helped a handful of my friends start blogs this week.

Before I sign off, I want to say thanks to a very special reporter across the globe. She’s an expert source for global tech and entertainment news, and you should follow her on Twitter.

Welcome. Anyone up for some table tennis?
